Our Hatton Garden workshop

Know how your watch is running.

A health check gives you a clear view of your watch's condition without committing to a full service. It is a sensible step for a watch you have just bought, one approaching its service interval, or one that does not feel quite right.

  1. Discuss how the watch has been running and its service history
  2. Check timekeeping on electronic timing equipment
  3. Pressure test the water resistance where the design allows
  4. Inspect the crown, pushers, glass, case and bracelet
  5. Check the winding, setting and date functions
  6. Explain the findings and recommend any work needed

If the check shows the watch needs work, the team explains the options and costs. Nothing further is done without your approval.

Ask our watchmakers
How is a health check different from a service?

A health check measures and inspects the watch to find out how it is performing. A full service dismantles, cleans, lubricates and regulates the movement. The health check tells you whether a service is needed now.

When should I have a health check?

After buying a pre-owned watch, before a holiday or water activity, if the watch is gaining or losing time, or when you are unsure when it was last serviced.

Do you test water resistance?

Yes, where the watch's design and condition allow. The result, and any limits on water use, are explained to you.

What will a health check cost?

Costs depend on the watch. The team confirms the cost before the check begins.

How long will it take?

Ask the team when you enquire. Timing depends on the watch and the checks needed.
